Primitive forms of the lighter, such as devices like Döbereiner’s Lamp, were developed in the early 19th century. It was not until 1903 that the first modern rendition of the lighter came to be when Austrian chemist Carl Auer von Welsbach patented ferrocerium, which is a synthetic alloy that emits hot sparks when struck. Zippo was then introduced in 1933 and was the most popular pocket lighter for the next four decades, until Société Bic S.A. in 1973. Their disposable plastic lighter has been a fixture at concerts and social events ever since. Due to our undying love and want to create an everlasting union, we decided to adorn this iconic product with our green D33 hex.
